The Role of Youth in Promoting Global Citizenship Education: Challenges and Opportunities

Ideaborn’s partner, the Moroccan Center for Civic Education (MCCE) organized the Second Annual International Conference on Education for Democratic Citizenship. Held in in Marrakesh, Morocco from February 4 to 8, 2015, the conference counted with the support and participation many national and international participants, among others, the University of Ottawa and the Bishop’s University in Canada, the North South Center of the Council of Europe, among others.
In recognition of the international need for democratic citizenship education to prepare enlightened and active young people who are more engaged, more knowledgeable, and more politically tolerant, this year’s conference will be focused on the theme of “The Role of Youth in Promoting Global Citizenship Education: Challenges and Opportunities.
In representation of ideaborn, Chiara Guidetti presents the project labeled by the Union for the Mediterranean and which will be implemented in Morocco, in partnership with the MCCE itself “Forming Responsible Citizens: Citizenship and equality education for school prevention of violence”.
In particular the project has beed discussed with the Ministry of Education and the Regional Academy of Settat in order to prepare the start up of the activities.
