With the international day for the eradication of violence against girls and women falling on November 25, 2017, the Tunisian secondary education institutes of the cities of Korba, Maktar and Béni Khalled, which are involved in the program “Forming Responsible Citizens”, have adhered to the UN global campaign called Orange the World.
More than 80 students have actively participated, facilitating the creation of a space for debate and reflection on the global challenges of gender violence.
This work follows the logic of the new methodological approach of the project, with a view to train teachers in both practice and experimentation with their students, on the issues of equality and respect in everyday life.
Furthermore, this activity has encouraged awareness and provided more tools to the young people involved in order to recognize (and distance themselves from) discriminatory and sexist behaviours.
The initiative got underway during 16 days of global mobilization of the campaign, with analysis activities and projects that helped raise awareness about this issue.
The Forming Responsible Citizens project is in partnership with Ideaborn Foundation, the Moroccan Center for Civic Education, the Social Development and Empowerment Center, the Jordanian Centre for Civic Education, the Adyan Foundation and the Lebanese National Commission for UNESCO.
It is labeled by Union for Mediterranean and financed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Norway& the Principality of Monaco.
