Since December 2017, three schools in Morocco have been implementing the Forming Responsibles Citizenship project: Ibn Zaidoune and Ibn Rochd in the Casablanca area, and Ouad Elmakhazin in the town of Ain Harrouda.
The activities are coordinated by the MCCE and involve various civil society actors including local associations, representatives of the ministry of education, as well as local media such as the Al Ahdat Almaghribia Daily. This newspaper has devoted two pages to the project and its impact, presented the project methodology utilised by the local project coordinator, Mr. Elarbi Imad, and showed the ongoing activities in schools.
The core activities of the new citizenship clubs created in each school follow the presentation, debate and practical activities in the three main areas addressed with teachers training, namely: prevention of violence, citizenship and gender equality..
All these themes are articulated in the Moroccan teaching guidebook, soon available for official publication.
The Forming Responsible Citizens project is in partnership with Ideaborn SL, ideaborn Foundation, the Moroccan Center for Civic Education, the Social Development and Empowerment Center, the Jordanian Centre for Civic Education, the Adyan Foundation and the Lebanese National Commission for UNESCO.
It is labeled by Union for Mediterranean and financed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Norway& the Principality of Monaco.
