On October 25th, 2017, 30 young people from Korba High School presented the activities of the project Forming Responsible Citizens, carried out in their school.
The event was attended by more than 60 people, including institutional representatives of Tunisian education, experts, professors, students and partners of the SDEC and ideaborn project.
This presentation is direct evidence of the positive impact that the inclusion of the new methodology in the schools has produced in daily school work. In addition, this event demonstrates the willingness of teachers to create a more participatory and inclusive school.
Three clubs have been formed at the Korba High School; each of these clubs consists of 15-20 participants – both boys and girls.
1. Listen to my Voice: This club’s main objective is encouraging the awareness of active citizenship. This goal is carried out via research at the local level, thanks to the creation and management of team projects and through activities in English.
2. Tunisia & Peace / no to terrorism: this club’s main objective is the promotion of equality and non-violence. It works in different ways and utilizes various activities in order to encourage practices and attitudes of non-violence, responsibility and peace
3. Women for Change: this club was created with the aim of promoting the prevention of violence – in particular violence against girls and women. Its work puts into practice activities that encourage the development of empathy and collaboration among students. Sports, artistic and English-language games have been held
The presentations carried out by each group of students show the great work done and the sensitivity acquired by children in the subjects of the project.
Curiosity of Korba Clubs:
The working groups are each presided over by 3 teachers of different disciplines. These teachers have made possible the creation of very effective visual products, such as videos, logos, trophies etc., with the end result of encouraging the creative thinking of the young people involved.
The Forming Responsible Citizens project is in partnership with Ideaborn Foundation, the Moroccan Center for Civic Education, the Social Development and Empowerment Center, the Jordanian Centre for Civic Education, the Adyan Foundation and the Lebanese National Commission for UNESCO.
It is labeled by Union for Mediterranean and financed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Norway& the Principality of Monaco.
