Forming Responsible Citizens (FRC) project aims to prevent juvenile violence, especially violence against girls and women in school.
The project aims at empowering secondary education teachers with tools to enhance the knowledge and practice of rights, duties and responsibilities of their students. By doing so, it aims at promoting dialogue as alternative to violence and respect to the difference of gender, religions and thoughts. Special emphasis is put in the role of the school as vector of prevention of intolerance in the all society and of discrimination towards women rights
- The project will reach the ambitious goal to create a synergies between the Ministry of Education (MoE) and social actors, such as civil society, schools and parents.
- The design of new methodology related to civic education to fostering the citizenships values and the violence prevention against women and girls.
- Testing the new curricula in different schools and areas in both countries.
To obtain these results, the first phase of the project has been focused on a diagnostic phase in which a diagnostic study is carried out to identify the existing curriculum and the resources on civic education at the secondary education level.Once the identification is developed, conclusions and recommendations are addressed.
Those recommendations will serve as guidance for designing and preparing a guide that presents teaching exercises to address and learn about issues related to the prevention of violence, gender equality and active and responsible citizenship.
The finished material leads to the third phase of training, where trained teachers can make use of the new material with their students.
