Indeed, the purpose of this report is to examine youth violence and crime prevention effort done at three levels: primary, secondary and tertiary.
Specifically, you can observe that a tremendous amount of work is being done in the District to alleviate youth violence and crime as well as the underlying causes of child poverty and distress, such as hunger, poor education, unemployment and insecure living environments.
In the following pages, it will delve into the dynamics of child and youth violence prevention in the District of Columbia, by providing a demographic portrait of the city. Challenges at hand and important stakeholders were identified.
The assessment includes valuable feedback from those working daily in the field. Ultimately, it is provided commentary on how to move forward, as we strive for a world in which all young people grow up to lead healthy and productive lives.
