Watercolour on paper, Colombia 2018
In his artwork Colinas Cromáticas, the artist deals with a subject of local sensitivity in the city of Medellín, Colombia; more precisely in the neighborhood of Comuna 13, which has been strongly affected by violence in the country. The artist seeks to enhance the colors with which houses have been painted, which are an attempt by the community itself to generate confidence in the inhabitants.
Santiago Castro Mira starts from the search for that which serves as a container or generator of memories. In the works, the body, the face and the surroundings of everyday life stand out, with the intention of generating characters that allude to a possible collective memory or identity”.
