The diagnostic phase is a crucial part of the project. In fact, it is a preparatory tool to understand the real needs of the education system when it comes to the issue of citizenship. What’s more, the analysis aims to promote the values of citizenship and the prevention of violence and the support to the equality among girls and boys. In addition, it will address the point of view of civil society via focus groups and surveys with professors, practitioners and students.
The diagnostic study will focus on the citizen education documents of the Ministry of Education, the new laws in the framework of the current educative strategies and reforms, the existing textbooks with a focus on the Social Studies curriculum of the middle school and its actual implementation at the school level. The final product of the diagnosis is a document that will provide a series of conclusions among competences and skills as well as recommendations that will be the basis for writing the new teaching material.
